Look for a Survey Email from BackerKit this Week

The next time you hear from us, it will be through a platform called BackerKit, which we’re using to finalize everyone’s rewards. The email you receive will have a link to a BackerKit survey, which you will use to confirm your shipping information, finalize your reward selection, and add items to your order if you so choose. It should be really easy to use; you won’t have to make a new account or anything.
You should get the survey in a few days. Once you receive it, please complete it as quickly as possible. We’ll leave the survey open as long as possible so you can make adjustments to your order, but it’s very helpful for us to have your initial response right away.
If you have friends who missed the campaign, this is a good opportunity to add a deck for them to your order at the low Kickstarter prices. We will open preorders to everyone soon, but the prices will be higher.
We’re excited to be using BackerKit to give you all the best possible experience for this part of the process. BackerKit was made by Kickstarter creators for Kickstarter creators, and they have an excellent reputation and track record.
An Update From The FLUSTER Workshop
We had a busy week finalizing the questions for the new deck and SEXpansion pack. We had been so focused on running the campaign that it felt pretty cool to actually be working on the game again. We are very happy with the set of questions we chose. Shout-outs to the backers who chose the reward of submitting a question. Everyone came in with a great idea that was right in line with the FLUSTER philosophy, which made it easy for us to incorporate the submissions with very little workshopping needed.
Here’s a sneak preview of one backer-submitted question from the main deck and one from the SEXpansion pack:
“What mistake do you keep making again and again?”
“Given that sexual orientation is a spectrum, where on the spectrum would you currently place yourself?”
Once we locked in the questions, we delivered our final files to the printers, so we should have our first prototype soon!
Timeline Reminder
We’re still on schedule for delivery in April. We’ll keep you informed if that changes at all, and we’ll send out one of these updates every couple of weeks so you don’t forget about us.

BackerKit FAQs
WHAT IS BACKERKIT?
BackerKit is a service that helps us collect and organize all of our backer information. The service was started four years ago by a fellow Kickstarter project creator. These guys are great and have been trusted by some of the biggest Kickstarter projects of the last few years.
HOW DO I FILL OUT THE BACKERKIT SURVEY?
Just click the link in the email invite and follow the on-screen instructions from there. You will not need to create a login or password to fill out your survey - just follow the personalized link, and you’re good to go! If you want to go back to review or edit your responses, just click on the link in your survey email again, or enter your email address into the BackerKit project page to recover your survey link.
I CAN'T FIND MY SURVEY EMAIL.
The personalized survey link will be emailed to the address that you provided for your Kickstarter profile. To determine what email address that is, simply login to Kickstarter and check under "Account" which can be found inside the "Settings" menu. Also check your spam folder, and if you still can't find the email, just contact us at [email protected]
CAN I ADD ITEMS OR CHANGE MY PLEDGE LEVEL IN BACKERKIT?
Definitely! You can add items at the Kickstarter discount and change your pledge level all from inside the BackerKit Survey. When you finish your survey questions you'll see the Add-On screen. From here, you can add items to your reward (like an additional FLUSTER deck or SEXpansion pack), or you can click the "Want to upgrade to a different pledge level?" button. If you pledged more money than the value of your award+shipping, you will see a credit when you get to the Add-On screen. If you add items whose cost exceeds your available credit you'll be prompted to enter a credit card to pay the additional cost.
I ADDED FUNDS TO MY PLEDGE FOR AN EXTRA DECK, HOW DO I CLAIM MY EXTRA DECK?
If you ordered multiple decks by adding funds to a pledge, you will have an opportunity to add the deck(s) after the initial survey questions via the Add-On system. Once you answer all of the initial survey questions, you will be presented with the available Add-Ons, and BackerKit will show you your available credit. Simply select a deck, and click "Add to Cart". You will see your Credit Remaining balance decrease on the right hand side (hopefully to $0 if you did your math right when you pledged!).
WHAT SHOULD I ENTER AS MY SHIPPING ADDRESS IF I MIGHT MOVE?
You should enter the shipping address that you expect to have in April 2018. If you have no idea what that address will be, then don't enter an address in the survey at this time. We will let everyone know when we are close to shipping, and at that time you can enter your current address or modify the address that you entered previously.
CAN I CHANGE MY SURVEY ANSWERS LATER?
Yes, you can update or modify your survey answers anytime before we have to lock it down to get ready for shipping. Simply click on the same personalized email link and it will take you to BackerKit where you can modify your responses. We will be sure to let you know when we are close to shipping, and when we will lock down the survey (estimated for February). One thing to note is that you must fill out the entire survey before we can ship your reward.

127% Funded, 100% Stoked

Made it! All 383 of us!
We knew we were in the clear heading into the final 48 hours, but we didn’t expect such a great push right to the end! We ended up 127% funded, with $19,130 from 381 backers. Pledges were literally coming in right up until the final moments. It’s hard to find another way to say this, but we are so grateful to all of you for your support. When we started planning this project, we really had no way to predict what the results would be. It’s a scary thing to put your project out to the world and ask friends, family, and strangers to help you make it a reality, but you all made it happen for us, and we’re truly moved.
Next Steps
We’ll be sending out our backer survey early in the new year to collect the information we need to get you the goods. We may use a third-party platform for this, to make it easier to manage on our end, but also to make it easier for you to make changes to your rewards, if you so choose. Either way, look out for a survey, and fill it out at your earliest convenience. The sooner we have all the info, the sooner we can start making shipments.
Add-Ons
Do you have friends who aren’t in-the-know, with it, and hip like you? Did they learn about FLUSTER too late to back the project, and now you’re worried that you’ll have to share your copy with them when it arrives? Don’t worry! The backer survey will give you the option to add additional decks to your order, so your friends can jump in with no extra charge for shipping.
Production
No real updates to share since last time. We’ve just received our first round of digital proofs from the manufacturers, and should be getting a fairly accurate prototype delivered in January. We’ll definitely share some pictures when that one arrives!

One Week to Go!

The End (of the Campaign) is Near!
We’re into the final week of the campaign! The final deadline is Tuesday, December 19th at 9:58 PM, PST. If there are still some people in your life who you think might like FLUSTER, now’s the time to tell them. We’re looking forward to a strong push to the finish line.
“But Team FLUSTER, You Already Hit Your Target. Why Should I Keep Sharing the Project?”
Fair question. Yes, it looks we should finish the campaign at least slightly ahead of our target. However, the target was set much lower than our costs, to reduce the risk of missing it entirely. Our actual costs to produce FLUSTER are quite a bit higher. So we aren’t going to go broke covering the difference out of pocket, but we’ve got a long way to go before the pledge money starts going straight into a Scrooge McDuck-style room of gold coins to slide around in. So that’s why we’re going to keep sharing FLUSTER with as many people as possible, and hope you will too! It’s just a few more days, and then we can all chill with some eggnog.
IOU Cards
We’ve shipped out IOU cards to everyone who requested them. If you haven’t submitted your request yet, we can’t promise to get you a card by Christmas, but let us know ASAP and we promise we’ll get it in the mail as quick as we can. Worst-case, send us a message with your email address and we can email you a PDF to print at home.

End of Campaign Drinks
For Vancouver-based people (or people who are willing to travel just to have a few drinks), we’ll be celebrating the end of the campaign at a bar this Saturday night. We’d love to see you there! Send us an message if you’d like to join in, and we’ll give you the specifics.
Timeline
Once the campaign ends, we’ll be in touch with our backer survey, where we’ll collect your address for shipping, and any other info we might need. You’ll also have the chance to adjust or add to your pledge then, in case you’ve been thinking you might want an extra deck or two. We’re currently on track for delivery in April as planned.

You guys! We did it!
On Monday afternoon we surpassed our target of $15,000, and we couldn’t be more excited to know for sure that we’ll be sharing FLUSTER with you in the new year. We’re feeling so much gratitude to all of you, not just for your generous pledges, but for sharing the project online, telling your friends, and giving us so much support in all kinds of ways. We feel really fortunate to have this community around us, and also to be welcoming so many like-minded people into our lives (near and far) through FLUSTER.
There are still two more weeks left in the campaign, and we still have a ways to go before our costs are actually covered, so we’ll continue to keep working hard. But we wanted to take a minute to express our appreciation before we get back to it.

Remember, if you’re giving someone the gift of FLUSTER this holiday season, and want something tangible to tide them over until the decks arrive in the Spring, fill out the form to request an IOU Card! Other Campaign News
We got some help in our final push to 100% with a great article about FLUSTER on the website Vancouver is Awesome. Not only that, but they actually played a bit of FLUSTER on their new podcast too!
We’ve also had some fun in-person events recently, including the first ever FLUSTER game that was entirely open to the community. We made some new friends, and got to introduce lots of awesome people to each other over some snacks and conversation. We had just hit 100% when the event started, so we got to celebrate with everyone there as well. We hope to do more events like this in the future, so if you live in Vancouver, follow us on Facebook for updates.
We’re in the pre-production phase with the good folks at Panda GM, and everything is going smoothly so far. We’ll keep you posted on how things progress.

5k To Go & Designs Submitted!

The Backers’ Edition and SEXpansion designs are done!
We hit a big milestone today, finishing up the designs for the new Backers’ Edition deck and the SEXpansion with our designer, Michael Lipsett. The files have been sent to Panda Game Manufacturing and now we wait to receive our first proof. The pre-production process is very involved with Panda which is GREAT because it means the final product is going to be exactly the way we want it.
Who’s giving FLUSTER as a gift this Christmas?
If you are planning on giving FLUSTER as a gift, first of all, we think you made a great choice ;) Secondly, you may be wanting one of the nice IOU Cards we created so you can wrap and hand something over at Christmas even though you’re so cutting edge that the actual gift won’t be available for another 4 months. We know your recipient will agree, it’ll be worth the wait.

Inside FLUSTER: what makes a question a FLUSTER question?
We’ve been asked recently if we wrote all the questions ourselves or if we got them from somewhere else. It was a good reminder that our creative process might not be so obvious! So we thought we’d go back to the beginning and share the story of how these questions got into the deck. First of all, NO the questions were not copied from anywhere (although that would have been a real time-saver).
FLUSTER was inspired by a special experience, which in turn led to a sort of philosophy, so each question has that inspiration in mind. Primarily, our process is to simply live our lives, but with special attention on the things in our lives that we wonder about, but don’t often talk about (often unusual, funny, or awkward). Unspoken thoughts are at the core of FLUSTER questions, and we want to bring up things that will inspire insightful moments about each other and ourselves, as well as topics that may leave us contemplating the conversation for days or weeks after playing FLUSTER. Whenever we think of something that fits these criteria, we add it to our long list of questions, and gradually hone in on our favourites. We’ve continued to refine, replace, and reword questions throughout each iteration of FLUSTER.
Many friends also helped create FLUSTER questions, either organically through conversations or with a suggestion for a question we could use straight-up. We’re also really excited for the opportunity to collaborate with the community on the next two sets of questions, since our Kickstarter rewards offer people the chance to submit a question for the deck or SEXpansion.
